Believe me I have witnessed it many times. It is quick money, anyone can do it.

but then there is an appraisal ordered after the inspection, ( if lender is involved ). items missed by a fraudulent inspection would be very evident.

It is easy to be a home inspector, you study, take the test and you inspect homes for money. The easiest part is inspecting, you don’t have to do anything because you’re not responsible for what you can’t see. So you just walk around alittle and you charge the money. Most of the time home inspectors don’t even show up, they just reuse the old reports from old inspection. Anyone can do this, as long as you know how to be dishonest and willing to commit fraud you can be a home inspector.
